Right now, as I type this, I am simultaneously banging my head against the desk trying to get the webrequest system to play nice with Wordpress.
I am going to have to shelve part of my design, cos half of it's being destroyed when Smarty compiles the tpl files (php tags that Wordpress requires, for example)
If there was a way we could integrate the Web Request system directly into Wordpress, that would probably be a lifesaver for me right now. As it is, I'll just continue to hack this thing together.

Re: Wordpress plugin for WebRequest system
Most of the time you can't integrate it into other systems, you'll just wind up with conflicts when you try to mix and match 2 engines. Your best bet for making it look integrated is to iframe it (99% of CMSes have this feature.)
